Goldstream News Gazette - 10/12/2017

If you were looking for a reason to get a tattoo – or even if you didn't need one – Goldstream Tattoo was the place to be last Saturday.

On Oct. 7, artists at the Langford shop gave out new ink for a good cause.

With a minimum donation of $100, those wanting a new tattoo could pick from roughly 2,000 pre-drawn flash designs.

Goldstream Tattoo co-owners Al Murray and Nelson Dinsdale-Young, along with Myles Lohman and Daniel Doukakis tattooed for roughly 12 hours to raise funds for mental health initiatives. By the end of the event, roughly $4,500 was raised for Island Community Mental Health.

Murray told the Gazette before the fundraiser that the event was in the works for a long time.

"It's something we've wanted to do since we opened … There's been a ton of community support," Murray said.
