Attorney honored for supporting fellow veterans

The Star Democrat - 5/22/2017

BALTIMORE - Maryland Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office, honored Cambridge attorney Ray Simmons with the Maryland ESGR Spirit of Volunteerism award.

Simmons, who serves as the Eastern Region Chair for the organization, is responsible for promoting cooperation and understanding between Guard and Reserve members and their civilian employers, and recognizing those employers who exceed the requirements established by federal law throughout the entire Maryland eastern region.

The ESGR Spirit of Volunteerism Award may be annually presented by the committee chair to one state ESGR committee member who demonstrates the highest level of volunteer service, outstanding leadership, and dedication to achieving our mission, whereby all employers support and value the employment of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States and Territories, thereby increasing the readiness of the Reserve Components.

"The Maryland ESGR committee members are extremely proud of Ray and the incredible amount of passion and dedication he consistently provides in recognizing those employers who exceed the requirements established by federal law, in regard to military duty and civilian employment requirements," said Jean Hulet, Maryland ESGR state chair.

"In addition to running a very successful law practice on a full-time basis, Ray's dedication to recognizing our outstanding National Guard and Reserve employers is always a top priority," she said.

ESGR seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
